Chile and the Aerospace Opportunity: Connecting with Texas and the Vision of Amix Tech Lab

In recent years, Chile has been strengthening its connection with the global aerospace sector, a strategic industry that integrates advanced technology, scientific research, defense capabilities, and new entrepreneurial opportunities. Thanks to its unique geography, world-class astronomical infrastructure, and growing technology ecosystem, the country is increasingly being recognized as a potential hub for space-related innovation in Latin America.

Part of this emerging opportunity is linked to the strong aerospace ecosystem in Texas, one of the most dynamic regions in the United States for space technology, energy innovation, and venture capital. Cities such as Austin and Houston host a dense network of startups, research institutions, defense contractors, and investors working on aerospace engineering, satellite technologies, and space exploration. A central player in this ecosystem is Capital Factory, a major innovation hub that connects entrepreneurs with venture capital, government agencies, and corporate partners in sectors including aerospace, defense, and deep tech.

Chile, meanwhile, offers significant advantages that could position the country within the global space economy. The Atacama Desert hosts some of the most advanced astronomical observatories in the world, and Chilean scientists are deeply involved in international collaborations in astronomy and space science. These conditions create opportunities for companies developing satellite data analytics, remote sensing technologies, Earth observation platforms, and applications related to agriculture, mining, water management, and climate monitoring.

Within this context, Amix Tech Lab, led by agronomist and entrepreneur Maximiliano Morales, is working to build bridges between Chile’s emerging startup ecosystem and global aerospace innovation networks. The initiative focuses on supporting startups and technology ventures that can contribute to the development of aerospace-related capabilities in Chile.

The vision of Amix Tech Lab is to help entrepreneurs and companies develop technologies linked to satellite systems, environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, telecommunications, and dual-use technologies that may have both civilian and defense applications. By connecting local innovators with international ecosystems—particularly those in Texas—the initiative seeks to accelerate the growth of high-impact startups capable of competing globally.

For Chile, the aerospace sector represents not only a technological frontier but also an opportunity to diversify its economy, strengthen its innovation capacity, and integrate into new global industries. Building partnerships between entrepreneurs, investors, universities, and international hubs will be essential for transforming Chile’s scientific and geographic advantages into a thriving aerospace innovation ecosystem.
